The Israeli civil rights group 'Adalla' is demanding that the Israeli authorities provide Arabic translation of compensation forms for victims of the Hezbollah missile attacks that have plagued northern Israel in the last 3 weeks. Currently, the forms are only available in Hebrew. With approximately 50% of the population of the affected areas Arabic speaking, Adalla is claiming that lack of Arabic language forms is grossly unfair to a large section of the population and is violating their rights for compensation, which they are entitled to under Israeli law. An Israeli government spokesperson has stated, in response, that since the computerized system for processing the compensation requests is in Hebrew, the forms can not be processed in Arabic. The Israeli spokesperson went on to say that in the coming days, the Israeli National Insurance agency will be holding group meetings in Arab communities across Israel to explain citizen entitlement to compensation due to the recent missile attacks.
