While the media has focused much attention on the nature of Materazzi's insult that caused French footballer to lose (and use) his head in the 2006 World Cup Final, nobody has bothered to ask in which language the insult was made. The answer is actually a moot point. Zinedine Zidane is not only an incredibly gifted footballer, he is also a versatile linguist and speaks French, Arabic, English, Spanish and Italian (he played for Italy's Juventus club). So Materazzi's insult was not lost on Zizou, who responded with the famous headbutt that ended his career in controversy.
