The drug approval rate is likely to increase on average by over 10% annually, according to a recent report by market research firm Business Communication Company (Norwalk, CT). This report forecasts that the number of drugs approved by the FDA and the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA), 121 in 2005, will increase to 201 in 2010.
The increase in annual drug approval will be highest for drugs used to treat mental disorders, cancer, hormone-related diseases, contraceptives and women's health treatments according to this report.

Translation is usually needed at many stages, including clinical research, regulatory submissions and review, production and marketing.
